Biography

Daniel 05_edited_edited.jpg

I am an established architect with almost 20 years experience. Since 2002, I have worked for a number of award winning practices, particularly in the area of residential, urban design and masterplanning.

I studied architecture at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and having gained first class honours (BArch) I then moved to London and gained professional qualification at The Bartlett, UCL.

I joined Levitt Bernstein Associates in 2006, and was an architect on a number of large scale housing projects which included, Holly Street in Hackney and Phase 1 of the Aylesbury Estate redevelopment near Elephant and Castle. Small scale educational projects were also completed, such as Millfield's Children's Centre in Hackney.

In 2009 I joined Mae. In my time there I ran a number of residential projects, varying from 8 homes to over 1000 homes. Most notably: The Guts, Manchester - back to back housing delivered as part of the New Islington masterplan; Hammond Court, Waltham Forest - new build affordable housing located within the Warner Estate; Hillington Square - an ex-council retrofit to improve affordable housing; MyHouse, a turn-key custom build house, and Brent Infill Sites - a series of small urban infill developments for Brent Council. Close collaboration with clients, consultants, and the community underpinned all these projects.

Having achieved the position of associate at Mae, and being part of a successful practice that grew from 5 to over 30 staff, I became responsible for overseeing a number of different sized projects, leading framework project bids, and fulfilling several wider duties such as project quality assurance, mentoring junior architects, and directing BIM implementation together with the practice's BIM team.

In 2018, I set up Studio PAN-Architecture to explore smaller scale retrofit and new-build projects with a focus on low energy building and sustainable approaches and with the aim of collaboratively working with the client/ end-user. Projects included fabric first extensions to House 1 & 2, in Telegraph Hill and A House In a Garden - Passivhaus. I qualified as a Passivhaus Designer in 2019 and I am passionate about championing more efficient and healthier housing.

My wider enjoyments include food, travel and drawing. I also undertake freelance work/ consultancy work on ad-hoc basis. Below is a selection of notable projects I've been actively involved in through my professional career.
